Teaching Retreats

Our house staff participate in several teaching retreats during the year, in order to become better leaders and gain skills in areas such as process and quality improvement. Topics discussed in teaching retreats include: giving and receiving feedback, formulating handoffs, becoming an effective team player and managing stress and work/life balance during residency.

Teaching retreats are lead by in-house academic hospitalists or outside speakers from Massachusetts General Hospital or Tufts University School of Medicine.
Recent speakers include the following:

Daniel Hunt, MD
Chief of Hospital Medicine Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital, Director of the Inpatient Clinician Educator Services of the Department of Medicine, and a Deputy Editor of the Journal of Hospital Medicine.

Hanna Sherman, MD, FAAP
Dr. Sherman is an organizational consultant from Relationship Centered Healthcare and educator, who works with organizations and leaders to foster authenticity and service in work.

Kathleen Finn. MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine and Clinician Educator at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Program Director of Inpatient Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Maria Blanco, EdD
Associate Dean for Faculty Development at Tufts University School of Medicine and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry.
