Is it right for me?
- Gastric bypass is a bariatric procedure where a portion of the stomach is stapled to create a small pouch, significantly reducing the size of the stomach. A portion of the small intestine is attached to this pouch, allowing food to bypass part of the intestinal track. The surgery promotes weight loss by reducing the amount of food a patient can consume.
- Gastric banding is a surgery in which an inflatable band is positioned around the stomach to reduce its size, causing the patient to feel full faster and to not be hungry between meals. The gastric band surgeon can increase or decrease the size of the stomach based on the patient's weight loss goals and nutritional needs.
- Sleeve gastrectomy, a bariatric surgery in which most of the stomach is removed, leaving a thin sleeve that limits the amount of food the patient can eat.
