Bequests

A bequest is the simplest way for many donors to make a lasting gift in support of Salem Hospital's mission. Bequests may be made in honor or in memory of another individual, allowing you to make a much larger contribution than you might have thought possible, and may save you and your heirs estate taxes.

How bequests work

You can name Salem Hospital in a will or living trust. It's straightforward and simple change to your will or trust by your attorney. It's flexible since you keep control of your assets and make a future gift while preserving what you need for your life. If life circumstances change, you can revise your will or trust. It's personal and allows you to leave a legacy and make a meaningful impact for a specific program with your gift, or you can leave it unrestricted for Salem Hospital to use for the greatest need. If your estate plan is current, you can make a change such as adding a charitable beneficiary. Your attorney can prepare an amendment to your will or living trust. Often, this can be done quickly and easily.

There are several types of bequests that may be considered, including outright, residuary, or contingent. If you would like to learn more, please contact Denise Tioseco, Managing Director, at 978.354.2793.

If you have already included Salem Hospital in your estate plan, we would love to know, so we can thank you properly and welcome you to the Bertram Society, and also ensure we can fulfill your wishes.
