    Use Main Entrance

All visitors and patients, with a few exceptions, are directed to use our Main Entrance, accessible via our Lower Entrance off Highland Avenue. Our main entrance is the best way for patients and visitors to get to many of our services and departments. Our greeters screen all visitors, for their own safety and the safety of our staff and patients. They also direct patients to their appointments and visitors to their loved ones.

    Exceptions:

    • Patients coming to our campus for blood draw services should go to the new Lab and Vascular Services building
    • Patients in our Cardiac Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Weight Management and Diabetes Management Programs should use the Upper Entrance and park in front of Axelrod. Instructions will be given to patients about next steps.
    • Birthplace patients should go directly to the Birthplace. Use the Upper Entrance and follow signs to the right and around to the Birthplace.
    • Emergency patients should go to our Emergency Department at the back of the hospital. If you enter by way of Highland Avenue, use the access road to drive to the back and follow signs.

    Children's entrance closed:

We have closed the Mass General for Children’s entrance on our Salem Campus. Outpatient pediatric and adolescent Behavioral Health patients and visitors are directed to use our Main Entrance on the Highland Avenue side of the campus. Our greeters at the Main Entrance provide patients and visitors with hand sanitizer and a mask for everyone’s safety and are able to provide additional assistance.
