Merry Mixers make largest gift ever to Salem Hospital
11/7/2022

Earlier this fall, the Merry Mixer Organization presented a check for $90,000 to Salem Hospital, representing their largest gift ever to support pediatric care at the hospital.

“We can’t thank the Merry Mixers and their supporters enough for this incredibly generous and amazing gift,” says Brian Sanders, MD, Chair of Pediatrics at Salem Hospital. “We continue to be humbled by their steadfast support and thank each of them for caring for our youngest and most vulnerable patients.”

The Merry Mixers have been supporting Salem Hospital for 72 years and there are no signs they are slowing down. The cadre of dedicated volunteers hold a series of fundraising events throughout the year including an annual gala, a toy drive, social events and raffles that benefit local patients and families.

This year’s donation is earmarked for Salem’s Special Care Nursery, Pediatric Emergency Care and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry services. Specific projects that will be funded include Mindfulness programs for teens and children, renovations to the Special Care Nursery and the purchase of a special bassinet for fragile infants.

Pictured holding the check are Merry Mixers co-chairs Gunny Sinthisone, Haley Foley and Nicole Connolly, (center), and incoming co-chairs Schuyler Wattendorf, and Alexandrea Fenty. Also pictured are Kathryn Nathe, MD, outgoing Chair of Neonatal Medicine, Julian Thompson, Nurse Director, Pediatric/Adolescent Floor, Epstein Center for Behavioral Health, and Brain Sanders, MD, Chair of Pediatrics, Salem Hospital.
