Salem, Mass. – Maury McGough, M.D., Chief of General Internal Medicine at North Shore Medical Center (NSMC), has been awarded the Samuel O. Thier, M.D., Physician Leadership Award from Partners Community HealthCare, Inc. (PCHI). The Physician Leadership Award was given to Dr. McGough in recognition of her vision, integrity, and commitment to the highest standards of care.
“This award honors a physician whose qualities inspire others and whose leadership can help shape the future of those around her,” said Thomas Lee, M.D., CEO of PCHI. In accepting the award, Dr. McGough thanked the PCHI and Partners leadership for setting a vision for high performance medicine.
Dr. McGough, who lives in Marblehead, is an internal medicine physician based at 400 Highland Avenue in Salem. She is a founding member and medical director of Harbor Medical Group, a group of 15 physicians in three North Shore locations.
For the past five years, Dr. McGough has served as president and chairperson of the North Shore Health System (NSHS), an organization that oversees managed care contracting for 500 physicians affiliated with North Shore Medical Center (NSMC), who care for more than 58,000 patients. She has also served NSMC’s Department of Medicine as associate chief of internal medicine for two years.
PCHI is affiliated with more than 1,000 internists, pediatricians and family practice physicians and more than 3,500 specialists who provide care to more than 1.5 million patients throughout Eastern Massachusetts.
