Staying Overnight

Occasionally patients may need more monitoring or treatment before being sent home. If your child should require overnight care, our pediatric emergency room is designed for children and includes comfortable accommodations for a parent to stay with his or her child through the night. Our team of physicians, nurses and staff in the Pediatric Emergency Department will make every effort to ensure that your child, you and your family are comfortable and well cared for during your stay.

Intensive or acute inpatient care

Sometimes children may need more intensive or acute inpatient care than we provide in a community setting. In these cases, our expert team will stabilize and transfer your child to a facility better equipped to provide care, including Mass General Brigham for Children, with whom we collaborate regularly to care for children in this community. To ensure transfers go smoothly, we will work closely with families to meet their needs.
