Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine exams use special imaging material, known as radioactive tracers, to take pictures of different processes happening in the body. Radioactive tracers can be injected into the body intravenously, inhaled, or can be taken orally. These scans can help detect and diagnose diseases in their early stages, evaluate organ function, and assess the effectiveness of certain treatments. Appointments may last anywhere from 45 minutes to 4 hours, or happen over the course of a couple days, depending on the test.
