  • After more than a year of construction, the Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center opens today next to Union Hospital in Lynn. This 41,000-square-foot ‘medical village’ will provide a modern and convenient location for residents of Lynn and the surrounding area to access vital healthcare services in their own community. The remaining 15 acres of the campus will be redeveloped by local developer and Lynn resident, David Solimine, Jr., who has shared plans to work with the City to develop senior housing on the site. Mr. Solimine’s proposal was guided by a 2018 city-led planning process addressing the reuse of Union that included local residents, Lynn city officials, social service agencies, community groups, health advocates and NSMC. • In his own words: Dutrochet Djoko | Salem Hospital | Mass General Brigham
  • I see myself as amplifying the voices of the residents and bringing their concerns forward. Medicine there wasn't as advanced, and we didn't have as much supply as we do here in the United States. I witnessed first-hand how difficult it was to balance the individual needs of each resident and the need to protect the community as a whole. During one of our BOH meetings, many residents expressed frustration, anger, anxiety, and a lot of push back over the different restrictions.

I see this as an investment in my health,” says Danvers resident Burnett Crateau, a longtime patient of Dr. Minor and a member of the walking club. “The health assessment I received at my physical made it well worth the expense, and then on top of that, I’ve been happily surprised with the extra group activities. • For Saugus resident Catherine Lopez, that was her reality, when her son Matthew Evans-Lopez was born at just 24 weeks. Family medicine physician Landrey Fagan, M.D., M.S., noticed that Lopez was clutching her abdomen as if she was about to have a baby and quickly brought her to the room to check her cervix. NSMC’s Birthplace is closely affiliated with the maternal-fetal medicine specialists at Massachusetts General Hospital MGH who specialize in caring for women who deliver early, such as Lopez. Our neonatologists practice at both NSMC and MGH which allows for continuity of care, and provides the parents with some familiarity and comfort,” said NSMC Chief of Newborn Medicine Sanjay Aurora, M.D., M.P.H. “By transferring the patient back to the NSMC Special Care Nursery prior to going home we can more easily coordinate with LCHC physicians for a seamless discharge.”
