  • Our pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine physicians provide comprehensive care to adult patients with pulmonary diseases, sleep disorders and critical illnesses. Our physicians provide inpatient pulmonary consultations, working closely with Salem Hospital hospitalist physicians to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with suspected pulmonary disorders. Critically ill patients with respiratory failure and multi-system diseases are cared for by physicians and critical care teams in our intensive care units. After sleep studies are complete, patients with sleep disorders are provided with comprehensive follow-up care and education. Our team evaluates and treats patients with proven or suspected tuberculosis at the Pulmonary TB clinic, located on Davenport 4 on the Salem campus.

To meet the growing demands of North Shore patients, provide a more therapeutic care environment and help reduce wait times in the Emergency Department, Salem Hospital will open an Acute Mental Health Unit AMU on Friday, October 28. This 16-bed unit will provide care for adult emergency behavioral health patients. The unit will be staffed by mental health professionals working closely with colleagues in the hospital’s Epstein Center for Behavioral Health, which provides inpatient mental health care to pediatric, adult and senior patients.   • The funds, announced by the governor’s office earlier this month, will be used to provide specialized expertise to Salem Hospital that will support discharges directly to a patient’s home, rather than to a skilled nursing facility or other long-term care setting. These funds will be a huge benefit to our patients, hospital, and the community,” said Lee Ann Baldini, director of case management at Salem Hospital. “Not only will more patients be able to return directly home, instead of being sent to a skilled facility, but we will also be able to discharge them faster – allowing greater access to other members of the community who need their beds.” The money is intended for AgeSpan and GLSS to hire personnel who work with Salem Hospitalto connect patients and their families with resources and services that ensure appropriate supports are put into place in their homes upon discharge. This grant provides community-based organizations, such as AgeSpan, an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with hospital systems and assure patients receive a well-coordinated discharge plan that supports their needs in community-based settings”, said AgeSpan CEO Joan Hatem-Roy.

The Lab and Vascular Services building has parking spaces in front for lab and infusion services patients. There are two designated parking areas for our Emergency Department, as well as handicapped parking for ED patients. Outpatient pediatric and adolescent Behavioral Health patients and visitors use our Main Entrance.
