  • Support groups are offered in English and Spanish on a monthly basis. We strongly recommend new patients to attend at least one support group prior to surgery. Program participants will receive a Patient Gateway message with information on how to join an upcoming support group as the date approaches. Salem Hospital Bariatric Support Groups will be live, interactive and held virtually through our secure Microsoft Teams platform. The groups are lead by a dietitian or health professional from the Salem Hospital Wellness Clinic.

  • Non-Intensive Outpatient services include individual therapy and substance use related groups. The Bridge Clinic offers walk-in and appointment-based services including addiction medication, peer support and groups, treatment/resource coordination, mental health care, and safe use/harm reduction education. Groups are held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Aftercare planning, including referrals to appropriate providers, support groups, and additional programs as needed. A peer-run parent support group for families with a loved one battling a heroin or an Oxycontin addiction.

All of these emotions are natural reactions and your support team can help you through them. In our monthly support groups patients draw strength from each other and benefit from ongoing education provided within the group.   • We run two concurrent groups on our inpatient unit. Age, developmental stage and presenting problems determine which group is most appropriate for a particular child. In addition, we believe that children need physical activity and fresh air, so as often as possible we go outside as a group, or individually. Individual and family assessment, support and consultation, including weekly parent support group Discharge planning, including referral to outpatient providers, Partial Hospitalization, or other supports as needed.

Venuti knew that to get through the ordeal, she would need additional support and be armed with as much information as she could get. She joined the NSMC Cancer Center’s Head and Neck Cancer Support Group. The group meets every Tuesday night to talk about all the treatments, side effects and emotional things they’re experiencing. “My support group enabled me to hear and ask questions about all the things that were going to happen, before they happened.

Our program offers intensive support five days a week for individuals who need more structure and clinical care than an outpatient setting, for treatment of psychiatric or dual diagnosis issues.   • It will work, but you have to stick with the program in order to be successful.” The program to which Marc refers is NSMC’s Weight Management Program and it provides intensive pre- and post-operative support for all of its patients. Support takes the form of regular meetings with the surgeons and other medical staff, as well as clinical support with nutrition, exercise and overall motivation. Peer support groups are also provided on a bi-monthly basis. While he gives a lot of credit for his healthy new body to his team at NSMC, Marc is most thankful for the support his wife of seven years has given him throughout this journey. “I’ve been a big guy all my life. In the beginning, there were times when I was ready to quit, but I didn’t, thanks to my wife,” he says. “In order to be successful, your home life has to be supportive of the surgery.”
