Support groups

Pre-operative support

Support groups will be offered on a monthly basis starting in 2025. We strongly recommend new patients to attend at least one support group prior to surgery.

Salem Hospital Bariatric Support Groups will be live, interactive and held virtually through our secure Microsoft Teams platform.

• We welcome participants who are considering bariatric surgery, preparing for bariatric surgery or have had bariatric surgery in the past.
• Your procedure did NOT have to take place at Salem Hospital in order to participate.
• The groups are lead by a dietitian or health professional from the Salem Hospital Wellness Clinic.
• Each meeting will typically start with the review of a specific topic or theme, followed by open discussion giving participants the opportunity to discuss their concerns, feelings, helpful tips, etc with their peers.
