  • This past fall, the Merry Mixers Organization presented a check for $90,000 to Salem Hospital, representing their largest gift ever to support pediatric care at the hospital. We can’t thank the Merry Mixers and their supporters enough for this incredibly generous gift,” says Brian Sanders, MD, Chair of Pediatrics at Salem Hospital. “We continue to be humbled by their steadfast support and thank each of them for caring for our youngest and most vulnerable patients.” This year’s donation is earmarked for Salem’s Special Care Nursery, Pediatric Emergency Care, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry services and the Behavioral Health Family Resource Center. Specific projects that will be funded include workshops to support children and teens, renovations to the Special Care Nursery and the purchase of a special bassinet for fragile infants.

It is based on a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.

  • Each categorical trainee establishes their continuity clinic outpatient experience by working closely with one of the primary care physicians from Mass General Brigham Physicians, a multi-specialty group practice affiliated with Salem Hospital, with 300+ physicians, nurse practitioners and healthcare professionals in more than two dozen locations on the North Shore. Our ambulatory experience is supported by a robust primary care curriculum. We provide participatory talks by primary care preceptors and specialists in core topics: diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, community acquired infectious disease, and commonly encountered medical problems as well as quality improvement, serious illness conversations, and shared decision making. Matching each resident with an attending primary care physician from North Shore Physicians Group creates the opportunity for individualized teaching, mentorship and continuous personal feedback.
