Pediatric primary care physicians at Salem Hospital treat children from infancy through young adulthood. They are board certified in pediatrics or in family medicine. They offer well baby and child visits, same day access for sick children, required immunizations, early periodic screening development tests, physical exams, comprehensive health services for adolescents and teenagers, and specialized expertise in pediatric asthma and allergies. They collaborate closely with the specialists at Mass General for Children. Many offer extended night and weekend hours.

Pediatric hospitalists

Mass General for Children has pediatric hospitalists on staff. Our pediatric hospitalists manage the care of pediatric patients during their stay in hospital. They monitor every child's progress and are accessible in cases of emergencies or if concerns arise. They ensure fast turnaround of tests and treatments and keep each child’s pediatrician and family members informed.

After a child is discharged from the hospital, our pediatric hospitalists help ensure a smooth transition of care back to his or her pediatrician or family medicine physician. They can also help family members find a physician if the child does not have one.

Electronic medical records

Many pediatric primary care physicians on the North Shore use a shared electronic medical record system. This creates seamless communication between Salem Hospital and all other members of the Mass General Brigham network.
