  • Alexis Rochefort is a certified dog trainer and her rescues, Rudy and Leo, are her constant companions. “My heart belongs to rescue dogs,” says the Danvers resident. “Many people see only their flaws; I see their potential.” In August 2016, Rochefort’s training career was put on hold after she learned that a lump she found on her upper chest was Stage 2 breast cancer. In May 2014, North Reading resident Kelly Donahue, found a lump in her breast during a self-breast exam. Fearing that these endurance events had done permanent damage to her leg muscles, Cobak turned to North Shore Medical Center’s sports medicine and non-surgical orthopedic specialist Navid Mahooti, M.D., for help. For Saugus resident Catherine Lopez, that was her reality, when her son Matthew Evans-Lopez was born at just 24 weeks.

  • Local Sports Medicine Expert Returns from Mission Trip to Peru: North Shore medical team reflects on serving the Indigenous Just a few weeks ago, Dr. Thomas Mulroy, 38, was in Chiclayo, Peru, where he cared for indigenous residents in a makeshift clinic in an abandoned warehouse without modern tools or electricity. Seeing firsthand the disparities in healthcare access and technology in non-industrialized countries has inspired the primary care sports medicine doctor to do more. More volunteers are needed to meet people where they live and provide the care these residents need to survive.   • She completed residency in Pediatrics at Children’s National Hospital/George Washington University and fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University through Ann and Robert H Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Preotle graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine, and then completed Emergency Medicine Residency through Brigham & Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Following residency, she complimented her training with a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Brown University, though Hasbro Children's Hospital. She graduated from the University of Texas at Houston and completed a combined residency program in Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at LSU in New Orleans. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University and Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Boston City Hospital/Boston Medical Center.
