  • Registration: A representative from patient access will speak with you to confirm your registration information such as address, phone number and insurance coverage, if applicable. Food will be ordered for a patient by his/her nurse once the physician has determined that it is safe to eat. If the patient is a child, both parents are, of course, welcome to stay in the treatment room. Visitors may be asked to return to the waiting room for short periods if the physician needs to provide privacy to the patient for an examination/procedure. Visitors may also be asked to wait in the waiting room at the patient’s request.

Our surgeons work collaboratively with medical and radiation oncologists of the Mass General Cancer Center in Danvers to plan out the best course of treatment for each patient. Part of the evaluation of patients with invasive breast cancer is the testing of lymph nodes in the areas surrounding the breast to see if cancer has spread there.   • Most patients who have a minimally invasive gynecology procedure can go home from the recovery room several hours after the completion of the hysterectomy. Patients typically require several days of oral narcotics in addition to medications such as ibuprofen. Patients usually remain in the hospital for two days or more and require 4-6 weeks of recovery before returning to work and normal activities. Once blood pressure, pulse, and breathing are stable and the patient is alert, she will be discharged home or taken to her hospital room.
