  • The non-profit organization of roughly 20 volunteer women, has been raising money for pediatric care at Salem Hospital since 1950. Funds raised in this year’s campaign will be allocated to pediatrics services, including psychiatry, the family resource center, special care nursery, and the Birthplace to purchase equipment, upgrade technology, renovate facilities, and sustain and expand vital programs and professional training. Over the past year, donated funds will be used to purchase breast pumps, hospital-grade refrigeration, ophthalmoscopes, and a NeoView neonatal intubation system, for the special care nursery and Birthplace.

  • Patients who need help managing their diabetes receive expert, compassionate care through the Diabetes Management Program at Salem Hospital. Salem Hospital is a member of Mass General Brigham and the North Shore's largest health care provider and is home to more than 600 physicians of the North Shore. Patients in the diabetes management program work with a multidisciplinary team of case managers, primary care physicians, and certified diabetes educators to develop a diabetes treatment plan, consulting with endocrinologists, podiatrists and ophthalmologists as needed. Health Insurance policies typically cover some or all of the costs of these programs, though a referral from a primary care physician may be required.

Through this relationship, cardiac surgery is now performed at Mass General, while all other aspects of a patient’s heart care are provided here. Our teams work closely together to provide effective and seamless care. Once surgery is completed and the patient has recovered, follow-up care is provided through our comprehensive Heart Center, where cardiologists and staff provide a broad range of expert cardiac services, and where patients can remain close to home and family.
