Birthplace and Special Care Nursery visiting information
Adult patients may have one support person present throughout their stay in the Birthplace. In addition, a healthy, masked, COVID-symptom-screened visitor will now be permitted to visit mothers in the Birthplace. Additional guidelines are below:
Hours:
During labor & delivery, the support person and designated visitor are permitted at any time. Postpartum visitors are welcome Monday – Friday from 1-8 p.m. and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 1-6 p.m.
Labor & Delivery:
One designated visitor and one support person are permitted. They may leave the patient’s room and return but may not be replaced by another visitor or support person.
COVID-19 status:
Support persons will be permitted for patients who test positive for COVID-19 and while the results of these tests are pending. To protect our community, however, additional visitors will not be permitted unless the test results are negative. Visitors and support persons will also be screened for COVID-19 symptoms before being permitted to enter the Birthplace.
Identification:
All visitors/support persons must check in at upon arrival to the Birthplace for screening and clearance. Support persons will be provided a wristband; other visitors will be provided a visitor sticker which they must wear throughout their visit.
Waiting area:
The Birthplace waiting room will be open with three designated seating areas separated for infection control. Only patients, designated visitors and support persons are permitted in the waiting room.
Access:
Support persons and visitors must limit their visits to the patient’s room and waiting room.
Masking:
Patients, visitors, and support persons must remain masked throughout their stay/visit to Salem Hospital and the Birthplace.
Special Care Nursery Visitors
- A maximum of two visitors (including support persons) may accompany/visit a neonatal patient.
- Visiting hours: Weekdays, 1 - 8 p.m., Weekends and holidays, 1 - 6 p.m.
