This hospital website will retire on August 18th. To better serve Mass General Brigham patients, we are consolidating all hospital websites into one system website. After August 18th, you will be able to find information about all our services, physicians, hospitals, and locations on our newly launched massgeneralbrigham.org.

Angioplasty

The Heart Center performs angioplasty, a life-saving procedure that is the fastest method of opening blocked arteries in patients suffering from a heart attack. We consistently perform this life-saving procedure within 90 minutes or less of when a patient first enters our emergency department--well above the national average.

Types of angioplasty performed

  • Primary angioplasty
  • Coronary angiography
  • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (balloon angioplasty/stent)
  • Right and left heart catheterization
  • Intravascular Ultrasound
  • Pericardiocentesis
