Initial Consultation for Shoulder Pain
Patients with shoulder pain or dysfunction will be evaluated by a member of our orthopedic team and receive a comprehensive exam which may include diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, MRI or CT scans. Following the evaluation, our team will diagnose your condition and work with you to develop the optimal treatment plan.
Non-Surgical Shoulder Care
Many shoulder conditions can initially be treated with non-surgical approaches, such as physical therapy, medication, arthroscopy or other therapies. Our team of orthopedic and physical therapists specialize in the latest non-surgical techniques to help patients regain movement and live pain-free.
Surgical Shoulder Care
If surgery is required, our board-certified surgeons are specially trained in state-of-the-art surgical procedures, including minimally-invasive arthroscopic techniques and major reconstructive procedures. Our surgical team works with you to develop an individualized treatment plan that will prepare you for surgery and ensure a full recovery. If you need shoulder reconstruction or shoulder replacement surgery, you will meet on of our total joint navigators who will guide you through the care and recovery process.
Shoulder Replacement vs. Shoulder Reconstruction Surgery
Though they sound similar, shoulder replacement and shoulder reconstruction are different procedures for different conditions. Shoulder reconstruction surgery aims to restore normal function to the shoulder by repairing the tendons, cartilage, and ligaments in the joint without removing any bones. Shoulder replacement surgery is usually for patients with advanced arthritis and involves replacing parts or all of the shoulder bones with metal or plastic components to relieve pain and restore movement.
No matter which procedure you require, our surgeons are trained in all types of shoulder surgery to provide you with the best possible care on your way to recovery.
Overnight (Inpatient) Shoulder Surgery
Shoulder surgery patients who require an overnight stay after shoulder surgery will enjoy spacious private rooms at Salem Hospital, as well as free valet parking and other amenities. All staff on the orthopedic units are highly experienced in caring for orthopedic patients.
