Back and Spine

Back pain not only limits mobility, it prevents you from enjoying all that life has to offer. Our team of medical and surgical spine specialists work together to manage conditions of the back and spine caused by degeneration, accidents, arthritis, fractures and tumors, with the goal of alleviating pain and getting you back to doing the things you love.

Meet our doctors

Initial Consultation

Back and spine patients typically begin their treatment plan by meeting with one of our physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians to evaluate whether non-surgical treatment options, such as physical therapy, medication, or injections can provide relief. If surgery is determined to be the best course of treatment, you will be referred to one of our surgeons, including neurosurgical and orthopedic surgical spine experts for specialized care.

Non-Surgical Care

Our medical spine specialists are board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, including peripheral nerve conditions, and work in collaboration with physical and occupational therapists, chiropractors, pain management physicians, as well as orthopedic specialists to develop a treatment plan that works for you. Initial evaluation will include a thorough examination and review of your medical history. Diagnostic exams such as X-ray or MRI may also be required.

MRI/Imaging Services

Salem Hospital offers sophisticated MRI imaging that provides a comfortable and supportive experience for our patients. Our advanced 3.0T and 1.5T MRI technology is state-of-the-art and provides exceptional and precise image quality while reducing scan time.

Our MRI suite enables patients to personalize their experience by choosing soothing music and scenes to view during their exam, such as aquariums, beaches and space travel. The scenery lighting may be adjusted to provide a more peaceful environment.
