  • Located on the ninth floor of the Davenport Building, the inpatient oncology unit serves cancer patients who require specific forms of chemotherapy that can only be delivered in an inpatient setting or who need specialized care as a result of complications from chemotherapy. Ray Levesque of Saugus is one of those patients. From diagnosis through treatment, cancer exacts a physical and emotional toll on patients,” says Dr. Weitzman. “While our current facilities allow us to provide effective clinical care, we saw a need to create a more comfortable, supportive environment that will make it easier for patients to focus on their health and well-being." As part of the renovation, the inpatient oncology unit’s six private patient rooms will be redesigned to include family space for overnight stays. He recently spent a few days in NSMC’s recently renovated Phippin Building following a knee replacement and describes the patient rooms there as “spectacular.”

  • Tilt table, which helps diagnose why a patient may be experiencing fainting spells. The tilt table actually produces a fainting spell, or syncope, under controlled circumstances, allowing physicians to determine whether the patient has a condition known as vasovagal syncope. Patients requiring cardiac surgery have the procedure done at Mass General, while all other aspects of post-operative care are provided through the Heart Center, including any necessary ongoing evaluation. Angioplasty – the quickest method for opening blocked arteries in patients suffering a heart attack. We provide a range of clinical programs to help patients and their families manage their recovery from cardiac surgery.

Holter monitors and event monitors: testing devices that determine whether a patient's heart is experiencing irregular rhythms. Patients requiring cardiac surgery have the procedure done by cardio vascular surgeons at Mass General, while all other aspects of post-operative care are provided through our Heart Center. Angioplasty – a life-saving procedure that can quickly open blocked arteries in patients suffering a heart attack. Dr. Mulroy typically sees patients at the North Shore Physicians Group practice in Beverly, MA, which is affiliated with Salem Hospital and Mass General Brigham. On a typical day at his Beverly practice, Dr. Mulroy will see up to 20 patients. It was an EPIC day,” says Moskal. “We saw more than 250 patients among all of the providers, but when the mayor of that community heard it was my birthday, she presented me with a cake.
