- Lisa Carbone is a long-time resident of the North Shore, whose involvement with Salem Hospital goes back to the first Cancer Walk in 1990. Through this program, clients receive internal medicine care, health promotion, care management and counseling for acute and chronic illness, in settings that include local shelters, the street, the Lynn Community Health Center and single occupancy residences. She is a resident of Swampscott and recently served as the Chair of the Swampscott School Committee. In 2017, Corchado worked with Salem residents to spearhead relief efforts for Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, organizing a food/clothing/monetary drive that filled four truckloads of materials and generated over $5,000 for organizations working directly with hurricane victims. She represented Ward 1, a very diverse ward including high-, middle- and low-income residents, until 2007 and worked diligently on behalf of all of her constituents.

I completed my Internal Medicine Residency program at Salem Hospital in 2018. Additionally, the faculty and leadership at the residency program offered me support and guidance on my future career goals. The residency allowed me to complete away electives in order to get exposure and practice in renown teaching hospitals in the Greater Boston Area. As a prelim resident, I had equal responsibilities as a categorical resident as well as the time to pursue electives that prepared me for my Radiology residency."

- Almost 100 years later, in 1979, an Internal Medicine Residency Program was created to benefit the North Shore community. In 1985, the Residency Program became affiliated with Tufts University Medical School, and medical students started joining our inpatient rotations. As a member of Mass General Brigham, Salem Hospital and its internal medicine residency program benefited from exceptional educational and development support. Since our categorical residents come from a diverse pool of medical schools from around the world, we have developed processes to help with the transition, including at-elbow shadowing sessions with current residents and nurses, and personalized faculty support sessions. Specialists or academic hospitalists provide a detailed review of a topic fundamental to residents' medical training. - Residents receive extensive training in hospital medicine, as well as medicine provided in an ambulatory setting. Residents spend four weeks on inpatient/ward rotations and the fifth week aka Y Week in ambulatory clinics. Residents will not have ward responsibilities during their Y week, which we believe facilitates a focused experience in ambulatory medicine and allows for "recharging". At the end of the first year, residents have the tools to effectively manage patients and transition to a team leader. At the end of the third year residents are master clinicians and teachers, ready to take their next career step.

- I am a noninvasive cardiologist and the current Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. After completion of my residency and fellowship training, I joined Salem Hospital as a staff cardiologist with particular interest in cardiovascular imaging. One year after starting my new job, I joined the core faculty of Salem Hospital residency program. For the Internal Medicine Residency Program, I have been working on developing a comprehensive cardiovascular curriculum and formulating comprehensive outpatient rotations. I believe the Internal Medicine residency program provides strong training for tomorrow’s doctors.

- She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and completed her residency at Maine Medical Center. She completed her residency at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Following residency, she complimented her training with a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Brown University, though Hasbro Children's Hospital. She graduated from the University of Texas at Houston and completed a combined residency program in Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at LSU in New Orleans. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University and Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Boston City Hospital/Boston Medical Center.

The CHNA engaged the diverse perspectives of residents across the NSMC service area and was guidedby a social determinants of health framework, recognizing that multiple factors affect community healthand well-being.

- Salem resident and wealthy ship owner, Captain John Bertram falls ill. Surgical residency program established with Massachusetts General Hospital. The Lynn Community Health Center LCHC opens on Chestnut Street to provide primary and behavioral health care services to Lynn residents, regardless of their insurance coverage or ability to pay for care. Only a few years later, in 1976, North Shore Community Health NSCH is founded to provide comprehensive primary care services to residents, first in Peabody and eventually expanding to Salem and Gloucester.
