  • North Shore Medical Center NSMC today announced that longtime Marblehead residents Gordon and Taffy Hall have committed a gift of $500,000 in support of the Department of Cardiology. Longtime Salem resident Joanne Cunningham’s heart has always been filled with happiness. It was a hot, sticky August morning, but Marblehead resident Scott MacAllister, 63, was not about to let the heat keep him from heading out for a run. • After more than a year of construction, the Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center opens today next to Union Hospital in Lynn. This 41,000-square-foot ‘medical village’ will provide a modern and convenient location for residents of Lynn and the surrounding area to access vital healthcare services in their own community. The remaining 15 acres of the campus will be redeveloped by local developer and Lynn resident, David Solimine, Jr., who has shared plans to work with the City to develop senior housing on the site. Mr. Solimine’s proposal was guided by a 2018 city-led planning process addressing the reuse of Union that included local residents, Lynn city officials, social service agencies, community groups, health advocates and NSMC.
