High-Risk Pregnancy

Doctor holding hands and supporting a pregnant woman about to give birth

We are affiliated with maternal-fetal medicine specialists from Massachusetts General Hospital who care for women with high-risk pregnancies. Patients see these specialists at the Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center in Danvers, and are able to deliver their babies safely at our Birthplace.

Patients who require more advanced care can be transitioned seamlessly to Massachusetts General Hospital as needed. Obstetrics and Gynecology is a collaborative practice of physicians from Salem Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. It is located at 104 Endicott Street in Danvers.

Maternal-fetal medicine services

Performed between 16 and 18 weeks gestation to determine potential chromosomal abnormalities and other conditions in the developing fetus

First Look program

This test is used within the first trimester as a screening tool to identify those babies who are at risk for chromosomal abnormalities.

Genetic counseling

A perinatologist and/or genetic counselor reviews with you the risk of your baby inheriting a genetic defect and what options may be available for you.

This is used for cases where there is a potential for genetic defect or an in utero complication for your baby.
